I'm Waiting!

The lambs are doing well! I'm currently waiting for Rose and Bar to lamb. I am really looking forward to their lambs in particular. Little Country Acres and Underhill Farm have quality aniamals and these two are no exception! Rose has a bigger bag then Bar's, but Bar is fatter than Rose. I don't have a clue as to who will lamb first!    When lambs and kid goats come along, it's habit to pick a favorite. This year is difficult. I love Black Beauty (ewe from Davina) but she's not quite to my standard as far as fleeces go. I'm waiting to see how she matures before I rule her out. Beauty's a little sweet heart. When you go to the gate, she will run up to you and expect a scratch on the chin. My favorites as far as fleeces go are the two lambs from Alberta, Winn-Dixie and the ram lamb. (Still haven't got a name for him) The ram is for sale may be interested in trading for a polled ram of equal value.      Here is the ram and Winn-Dixie. One the othe

Lamb Names

I have names for three out of the four lambs thus far. Like most Shetland breeders, I chosen a theme in which to name my lambs :  Famous Children Lit. Names.    I named the first ewe pictured below Lil' Hopper's   Velvet from the book National Velvet. The next ewe I named Lil' Hopper's Black Beauty. (Note: The North American Shetland Sheep Association requires all registered lambs to have flock prefixs, mine is Lil' Hopper's) The little ewe lamb from Alberta is Lil' Hoppers Winn-Dixie.    I need help on the ram, any ideas?

Lamb Post #1

Just as I predicted, Alberta and Davina were the first to lamb! They did a great job! I haven't come up with names for the lambs yet, I need to start! So far I have got 3 ewes and 1 ram lamb... I couldn't ask for anything better! The ram is out of Alberta, so it will be polled or scurred, no horns will be on him. He is for sale, I will not be keeping him, if anyone is interested.    Here are some pictures of the lambs. Hope you enjoy! (LostLakeFarm Davina x Three Creeks Emmit) Twin ewe lamb. She is one of my favorites!     (LostLakeFarm Davina x Three Creeks Emmit) Twin ewe lamb. I think she is going to grey. I think her sissy will grey too.   (Lil'Country Alberta x Lil'Country Beetlejuice) Twin ewe Lamb. Amazing ringlets in her lil fleece! It reminds me of her grandmother (Bar).   And finally, the little ram lamb! (Lil'Country Alberta x Lil'Country Beetlejuice) He's a little looker!   Here is a picture of the ram laying on
