The Good Shepard

Something happened yesterday that made me think. Well, I was putting the lambs and the sheep in the barn for the night, and Pete Moss decided that he didn't want to be caught, he wanted to do what his little heart desired. I spent hours trying to catch him, or at least trying  to run him into the barn. He would have no part of it. I had just about caught him and he got away from me. I was about in tears, I had spent hours trying to catch one lamb that didn't want to be caught. Then a thought struck me. In the Bible we are mentioned as being 'the sheep of His pasture'. How many times have we run from the Good Shepard to do what we want to do when all the Lord was trying to help us, or in better terms, save us from ourselves? I was upset about one lamb who wasn't listening to my instruction. I wonder how heartbroken the Lord must be for almost the entire world is running from him.     Thats all for today.          Signed,     A Willing Sheep

Breeding Plans for This Fall (ALREADY???)

Since I do not have a big flock, I have already decided who will be bred to who this fall. Provided Pete Moss is not AG, I will be keeping him. Tank will have most of my ewes. Pete Moss: LostLakeFarm Davina    I would put Davina with Tank and sell Pete Moss, but she needs to have her fleece improved in a BIG way. Her lambs from this spring are ok, but they are a tad too coarse for my liking. I will be keeping them as well, in hopes to improve them. From all indications thus far, Pete Moss is polled; I do not see or feel any scurs. I have no idea if Davina carries poll, so I will have a 50% chance of getting a polled sheep if she's breed to Pete Moss. If she were bred to Tank, who is scurred, she would only have a 25% of throwing poll. I am honestly hoping to get a spotted ewe from the Pete Moss + Davina combo. Davina carries spots. Tank: Underhill Bar Lil' Country Moss Rose Lil' Country Alberta    My plan is to keep Pete Moss for next years breeding so he can

Just Thinking...

We had some friends over, and I was showing them Pete Moss, the ram lamb from Rose. I thought he carried AG (the fading gene) but it looks like he is also going to keep his spots. I am really pleased with this... I am considering keeping Pete Moss, and breeding him to Davina and her lambs, when they get old enough. I'm not sure if Davina is a poll carrier, so it would be nice to breed her to a polled ram, then I would have a 50 50 chance. Davina throws nice looking lambs, but their fleeces aren't as soft as I'd like. Any ways, it would be nice to get more spots into the flock. I love spots! Several years ago, my family and I bred Dalmatian dogs. But because my little brother developed allergies to dogs, we got out of it. As much as I like Pete Moss, I still have him listed for sale. There is still time for him to fade, so we will see how it plays out. Have a good day!

They Are All Here!

Yes, they have all arrived. They all arrived several weeks ago, but I haven't had the time to post pictures! I really lucked out, I got 6 ewe lambs and 2 ram lambs... 8 lambs total! Not a bad start to my first year of lambing. I am really pleased with Lil' Country Beetlejuice's offspring. 6 out of the 8 lambs were his.    Bar beat Rose; Bar had her lambs first! Moss Rose: 1 Ewe (Daisy)  1 Ram (Pete Moss) Underhill Bar: 2 Ewes (Budgie) (Jasmine) Davina: 2 Ewes (Black Beauty) (Velvet) Alberta: 1 Ewe 1 Ram (Martina) (Albert)     I think  Martina, Pete Moss, and Albert are going to fade. I'm not 100% about Pete Moss. He may stay the color he is.  I do not think the others will. Anyways, here are pictures! (Do not yet have good pictures of Daisy. Daisy is a solid moorit. She is friendly) (Lil' Country Moss Rose x Lil' Country Beetlejuice) This is Pete Moss. He is for sale, asking $75 registered. (Daisy is in the background)   (Underhill Bar x Lil&#
